In de stand van de galerie is nieuw werk te zien van Gino Saccone. Hij brak een paar jaar geleden door met eigentijdse wandkleden waarin hij een hedendaagse beeldtaal verenigt met een traditioneel ambacht. Zijn presentatie in Brussel is getiteld ‘Rus in Urbe’ (‘Land in de stad’) en wordt gecombineerd met een bijdrage van Charlotte Koopman die met haar in Antwerpen gevestigde voedselwerkplaats en kookinitiatief Otark inspeelt op het werk van Saccone. Zij laat zien in welke beeldende hoedanigheid haar uitzonderlijke gerechten aansluiting vinden bij het werk van de kunstenaars met wie zij samenwerkt. Gino Saccone en Charlotte Koopman delen hun interesse voor een verantwoorde omgang met het milieu en getuigen daarvan in hun werk zonder daarbij een politieke of activistische rol te willen spelen. Eerder is hun omgang daarmee beeldend noodzakelijk, pragmatisch en zelfbewust.

The gallery is displaying new work by Gino Saccone. Who made a brake through a few years ago with tapestries in which he combined a contemporary visual language with a traditional craft. His presentation in Brussels is titled ‘Rus in Urbe’ (‘Country in the City’) and is intertwined with a contribution from Charlotte Koopman who, with her Antwerp based food workshop and cooking initiative Otark, addresses the work of Saccone. She shows in which visual quality her exceptional dishes connect with the work of the artists with whom she collaborates. Gino Saccone and Charlotte Koopman share their interest in sustainability of the environment and testify to it in their work without directly wanting to play a political or activist role. Rather, their association with the subject is visually compelling, pragmatic and self-aware.
